The Russian language

The Russian language is an Eastern European language and belongs to the group of Slavic languages. It is spoken by around 258 million people worldwide, including in Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and other countries of the former Soviet Union. Russian is one of the 6 official languages of the United Nations.

Russian uses the Cyrillic alphabet, which consists of 33 letters (А а, Б б, В в, Г г, Д д, Е е, Ё ё, Ж ж, З з, И и, Й й, К к, Л л, М м, Н н, О о, П п, Р р, С с, Т т, У у, Ф ф, Х х, Ц ц, Ч ч, Ш ш, Щ щ, Ъ ъ, Ы ы, Ь ь, Э э, Ю ю, Я я). Some of these letters look similar to the Latin alphabet, but have different sounds. In Russian, there are no diacritical marks such as accent marks, which are used in some other languages. Although the accent of a word is important and can change the meaning, it is not normally marked in writing.

Individual dishes of Russian cuisine are also popular all over the world today, including borscht, pelmeni (stuffed dumplings) and blini (pancakes).

Russian-German and German-Russian translataions

Are you looking for technical translations from German to Russian and from Russian to German? Proverb, the translation agency in Stuttgart, is the right place for you. Our Russian translators regularly translate texts for marketing, public administration and universities into their native language.
If required, we also offer English-Russian and Russian-English language combinations. Simply send us a no-obligation enquiry.

We are happy to take care of the foreign language typesetting for your product catalogues, manuals, technical documentation or company brochures in Russian. Our office can handle all the usual DTP and graphics programmes and create print-ready data in a layout programme (InDesign etc.) or as a print-ready Russian PDF on request.

Our DTP professionals know the special features of the Russian language. During DTP and the final proofreading stage, our graphic designers, Russian translators and Russian proofreaders check, among other things, that the Cyrillic characters are displayed correctly.
Since Russian translations are generally longer than the German source texts, our graphic designers and Russian translators make sure that the Russian texts are displayed correctly and in full and that the layout is retained in the final Russian file.
